According to details Sajjad Ali son of Muhammad Ashraf along with his tribe, protested against Dr. Syed Muratab Ali of Maratab Hospital and chanted slogans against the doctor.

The victims said that yesterday Dr. Muratab operated on their daughter for delivery. During the operation, the towel was forgotten inside the abdomen, which made the girl’s condition worse. It should be noted that there is a long-standing lack of specialist doctors and medical facilities in Chichawatni. Recently, Yousuf Jamal Tika, president of Markzi Anjuman-e-Tajiran, also died at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital due to doctor’s absence and poor treatment, to which Anjuman-e-Tajiran protested outside the hospital.

MS Civil Hospital Chichawatni fired two doctors over protests by traders. The first was Dr. Salman Aslam, who was accused of being absent from duty on March 25 and was often used to being absent from duty.

The other suspended doctor was Badr Munir who, in violation of the referral protocol, referred Yousuf Jamal Tika, a critically ill patient, to Sahiwal.

Both the negligent doctors were ordered to report to the Primary and Secondary Health Department, Lahore. However, it is interesting to note that MS Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Chichawatni itself is on stay order.

There have been incidents at the Martab Hospital on Begum Shahnaz Road before which there were protests and news, but no action has been taken by the health department so far. Citizens demand that Provincial Health Minister Dr. Yasmeen Rashid himself visit Chichawatni and take practical steps to improve medical facilities.
