The Sahiwal Circle Highway Department will begin work on a major road construction and repair project in the division during the current financial year, with a total estimated cost of over Rs 88 billion.
Under the annual development program of the financial year 2022-23, 18 schemes will be started in the division, including 6 schemes in Sahiwal district with Rs. They are in district Pakpattan.
Construction work on all these schemes will start after formal approval and release of funds by the Punjab Government.
This was stated by Superintendent Engineer Highway Circle Sahiwal Ashfaq Hussain while giving the details of the projects.
He said that in the first phase pre-qualification of contractors has been started for all the schemes and applications have been invited from them till September 13.
While giving the details of the projects, he said that construction and repair of Sahiwal-Pakpatan 40 km road from 3 billion 77 crore 62 lakh rupees, construction of 24 km road to Sheikh Fazil Tachichawatani from 4 billion 485 lakh rupees, 3 billion 79 Construction and repair of 40 km section of Duruya-Kasur Dipalpur road in district Okara from Rs.84 crore and construction and repair of 23 km section of Sea Sahiwal road in Sahiwal district from Rs.98 crore 67 lakh are included.
SE Highway Ashfaq Hussain further said that under the annual development program, 1 billion 30 crore 41 lakh rupees for repairing the 37 km long Pakpatan Kamir Road from Chowk Arain to Saqib Adda, construction of 41 km long Pakpatan Merle Road. And 1 billion 97 crore 12 lakh rupees will be spent on repair and 1 billion 12 lakh 24 thousand rupees will be spent on the construction and repair of the 20 km long Ada Shabil Arifwala Road through Harappa Bypass to Malin Shah Chowk road.
He further informed that 54 crore 78 lakh rupees for 18 km long Yusuf Wala Nurshah Road, 94 crore rupees for 24 km long Dipalpur Haveli Lakha Road via Baman Shah and Vasawewala, 94 crore 74 lakh rupees for 19 km long Dipalpur Basir. Pur Road, a 27-km long road from Renala Khurd to Hajra Chowk via Shergarh at Rs 91.48 crore and construction and repair projects of 8.7 km Old GT Road passing through Okara city at Rs 93.15 crore will be started.
